General
Description: Long lines, elegant and muscular
Size: Balinese are medium sized
Weight: 2.5 - 5 kg

Characteristics
The Balinese is essentially a longhaired version of the Siamese. This extroverted cat is playful and very curious, though very much more even tempered than its Siamese cousin. The Balinese love company and require a considerable amount of affection. This breed will get along with other active cats and ‘cat friendly’ canines. A garden would be preferable as the Balinese enjoys hunting and exploring the great outdoors.

Grooming
A weekly brush is sufficient for this breed. However, extra grooming is required in order to maintain the long silky coat. The Balinese is generally a light shedding breed.

History
This longhaired variety was first seen in the USA amongst a litter of Siamese kittens. They were thought to be very glamorous and it was decided that two longhaired Siamese cats were to be bred. The result was kittens with long coats. The Balinese can be found in all the colour variations seen in its cousin.
