General
Description: Muscular with a heavy bone structure
Size: Bombays are medium sized
Weight: 2.5 – 5 kg

Characteristics
Bombays are both curious and playful cats. They are extremely agile and are excellent hunters, so outside access is preferable. Bombays do not always get along with other cats; however, they have been known to warm to dogs and other animals. This is an extremely affectionate breed that just loves attention.

Grooming
The Bombay doesn’t require massive amounts of grooming. A weekly brush is sufficient.

History
In the late 1950’s an attempt to create a black Burmese was made by an American breeder. The breeder crossed a Burmese queen with a black American Shorthair. This resulted in the “miniature black panther” known as the Bombay. The Bombay is very popular in the USA but almost unknown in and around Europe.
