Characteristics
The British Shorthair is lively, playful and super affectionate. They are calm and extremely good tempered. This breed is very adaptable and can adjust to both country and city living. British Shorthairs have a very strong hunting instinct and love to explore outside. This muscular breed gets along well with other cats and dogs and will not reach full maturity until the age of about two or three.

Grooming
The British Shorthair’s coat will require extra grooming. They tend to shed a lot during shedding season.

History
Originally Shorthairs were probably kept for their hunting ability. The British Shorthair's developement goes back to Roman times when it is thought that the invading Roman soldiers brought this breed into Britain. Shorthairs are available in a variety of different colours, the most obvious example being  ‘blue’.
