History The Devon Rex was not distinguished from the Cornish Rex until after 1979 but is now recognised by both the CFA and the TICA. The Devon Rex is a naturally mutated breed which first appeared in the UK in the late 1950s. They are much smaller than the Cornish Rex with large round eyes and ears which seem out of proportion compared to the rest of their body.
