Grooming The Egyptian Mau sheds quite heavily during shedding season and requires brushing on a daily basis during this time. Weekly brushing during other times of the year will be sufficient. History The Mau comes from the Egyptian word for cat and is basically a modified version of the Siamese. This breed is often referred to as the Oriental Spotted Tabby. Believe it or not, Egyptian Maus' do not come from Egypt. Instead, this is to resemble the breeds likeliness to the ancient Egyptian wild cats.
