General Description: Long limbed, stylish appearance, short coat Size: The Havana is medium sized Weight: 2.5 - 4.5 kg Characteristics The Havana is a very active and playful cat. However, this breed also enjoys comfort, peace and quiet. They can become very attached to their owner and at times can be quite demanding. Havana Browns tend to use body language to get their point across. They have a softer voice than the Siamese. Havanas would benefit from a feline companion if owners are not around for the majority of the day. This breed is known to take well to a harness and lead. Grooming The Havana does not require major grooming. A weekly brush would be more than sufficient for this breed. History British Breeders crossed a Black shorthair with a Chocolate Point Siamese in the 1950’s; this resulted in a group of cats referred to as "Chestnut Havanas". Chestnut Havanas were to become the foundations for the present day Havana Brown. The Havana has remained popular in the USA since the 1960’s. However, the breed is rarely seen in Europe.
