Size: Munchkins are a small breed
Weight: 2.2 –- 4 kg

Characteristics
The Munchkin is a very short limbed cat. However, this does not restrict the breed’s mobility in any way. They are very playful and lively and will readily show affection. The Munchkin grows very fond of their owner and will often follow them around the house.

Grooming
The short haired variety is very easy to groom and will only require a weekly groom with a soft brush. The long haired Munchkin will require daily brushing.

History
Munchkins (The Dachshund Cat) are named after the inhabitants of Munchkin Land which is a fictitious land from the film, the Wizard of Oz (1939). The gene responsible for the short legs is a spontaneous mutation. The breed was recognised in 1995 by the TICA and the Munchkin first arrived in Europe in the early 1990’s.
