General Description: Muscular and powerful, short spotted coat Size: The Ocicat is a medium sized breed Weight: 2.5 - 6 kg Characteristics The Ocicat is an extremely active and curious breed and despite the similarity to Wild Cats, they are very affectionate and gentle. The Ocicat is intelligent and playful and are very loyal to their owners. They tend to be dominant over other cats but are friendly towards most other animals. Grooming The short haired Ocicat does not shed regularly. An occasional brush will be sufficient. History The Ocicat is another of the manufactured, spotted breeds of cat. This breed originated in the United States in the early 1960’s. Championship status was granted by the CFA (Cat Fanciers Association) in 1986 and the TICA recognised the breed in the late 1980’s. Ocicats are extremely popular in the United States and relatively rare in Europe.
