General
Description: Long muscular body, short haired
Size: The Oriental  is a medium sized breed
Weight: 4 - 7 kg

Characteristics
The Oriental is basically a Siamese cat without the Himalayan pattern in their coat. This breed has an extremely loud voice and seems to want to be involved with any household activity going. The Oriental is extroverted and very lively. They can become very possessive over their owner. They are extremely good hunters and outside access is preferred.

Grooming
The Oriental does not shed very often and a regular brush will be sufficient.

History
The Oriental originated in Thailand and only differs from the Siamese in coat and eye colour. By crossing Siamese and European Shorthairs of different colours, UK breeders successfully obtained all of the colours seen today, including blue, white and chocolate. The CFA recognised the breed in the early 1970’s. The Oriental is a very rare breed.
