General Description: Large powerful body, semi-long coat Size: The Ragdoll is a large breed Weight: 4.5 - 9.5 kg Characteristics The Ragdoll is probably the most laid back of all breeds of domestic cat. Their docile, relaxing temperament makes Ragdolls an extremely pleasant companion. The Ragdoll is undemanding and will tolerate most situations. This breed is extremely sociable and will get along with other cats and even dogs. The Ragdoll will adapt well to indoor life. However, a garden to stretch in would be preferred. Grooming The Ragdoll is quite a high maintenance breed. They require frequent brushing and combing to maintain their soft, shiny appearance. History Ragdolls originated in the United States around the 1960’s. The Ragdoll’s true background is open to speculation; but looking at the breed today, it is likely that the Ragdoll has links with both Birmans and Siamese. The GCCG recognised the breed in 1991 followed by the FIFe in 1992. The Ragdoll is quite uncommon outside America.
