Characteristics
The Sphynx is a hairless cat. They are mischievous, playful and independent. The Sphynx is very affectionate, even to the point of being possessive. They are friendly towards other cats and animals and are never aggressive. Since they are sensitive to cold and heat, house life is perfect for them. The Sphynx can tan easily and they must be kept out of direct sunlight. Unfortunately this breed has a high rate of neonatal mortality.

Grooming
Unlike any other felines, the Sphynx sweats through their skin and should be cleaned regularly with a damp towel but bathing is not advised. The ears must be cleaned regularly as they can produce a great deal of wax.

History
The Sphynx is a natural mutation, first seen in Canada in 1966. Although there has been reports of other hairless cats in other parts of the world this is the only one to ever have been bred from. The breed is a relative new comer in the UK.
