History
The Staffordshire Bull Terrier was developed in Staffordshire, England in the 19th century. The breed was developed by crossing Bulldogs and various different Terriers. The Staffordshire Bull Terrier was bred for bull baiting (a popular sport at the time). The breeds popularity dropped as interest in the sport decreased. Then, in the twentieth century, interest in the breed grew again. Today the Staffordshire Bull Terrier has outgrown its history to become a popular and well balanced family pet.
