Back to rabbit information homepage

General
Weight: 2 to 3kg
Description: As its name suggests, the Beige rabbit has dense, very soft fur of a light sandy colour, although it is often a darker shade, with the tips of each hair darker in colour. Noticeable blue shading on the ears, muzzle, the legs and the underside of the tail.

Characteristics
This rabbit is particularly calm and gentle, making it an ideal house companion.

Grooming
The hair of the Beige rabbit does not have a wooly quality, as with other breeds such as the Angora, meaning that they do not require excessive grooming and are very easy to look after.

History
It was in the 1920s that the Beige rabbit first appeared in the United Kingdom, where people sadly seemed to soon forget this breed in light of the fast-moving development of other breeds, many of which were coming over from continental Europe. In the 1940s, however, it was reintroduced by the Netherlands, and today continues to be a popular choice for a domesticated pet.
