Satin rabbits are very calm and gentle. Males tend to be considerably more affectionate than females.

Satin rabbits require frequent grooming to keep their coat glossy and healthy.

History
The first satin mutation was encountered in 1934 when Walter Huey of Pendleton, Indiana interbred Havana rabbits. Geneticists determined it to be a recessive gene for the shine and texture of the coat.
