Health
Dwarf rats are generally known for having good health and studies show they are less likely to suffer from a variety of cancers, and are less susceptible to kidney diseases. However, they are more like to suffer from impaired memory and learning difficulties. Dwarf rats can still suffer from a variety of diseases, most commonly involving the respiratory system. It is not uncommon for a rat to sneeze throughout the day as they have very sensitive noses, but if there is a build up of porphyrin (also known as ‘red tears’) around the eyes and the nose, this could be a sign of a serious underlying issue.

Life Expectancy
1 - 3 years

History
The size of a Dwarf rat is achieved by a genetic mutation.
