Frog

Not all species of Frogs will be active and interesting so it is necessary to research a variety of species before deciding which pet frog species is best for you.

Each species of frog has different needs, from the type of tank it is housed in, to its dietary requirements. It is also important to note that frogs often require being fed insects, so if you are at all squeamish, a variety of frog that does not require this particular dietary addition would be more appropriate.

In captivity frogs can live from between 4 to 15 years though certain species of frogs can live for much, much longer.  There are a few frogs that are appropriate for beginner owners such as the African Dwarf Frog or the Oriental Fire bellied Toad. Cost is also an important factor when looking into purchasing a pet frog.

Whereas the frog itself may not be expensive, the housing for it may well be, along with lighting, accessories, food and plants, all of which are required to keep a frog happy in its new home. Space for a decent sized tank is also necessary.
