With the right amount of care and handling,
snakes
can become very tame and interesting pets.
Many snakes can live up to 20 years and are a long term pets that will always need to be taken care of. Snakes are very good escapologists so a safe, large and escape-proof tank is appropriate to ensure the snake cannot slip through any small gaps. It is best to keep a smaller snake for first time owners, and definitely not anything particularly large or anything venomous.
Snakes require a very specific diet, usually consisting of anything from frozen mice to frozen worms. These will need to be kept in a freezer. They do not require feeding often, but it may be useful to keep a calendar to ensure feeding is not forgotten or missed.
A first time buyer must always read up and research exactly the type of snake they intend to buy to ensure they can properly care for it. Some snakes also prefer company so this is something that needs to be looked into. As with most reptiles, providing a snake with everything it requires may be costly, so it is an idea to purchase everything necessary well in advance.
